And acting upon knowledge – from it is that which, (if a person) leaves it, then it is kufr.
And from it is that which (if a person) leaves it, then it is an act of disobedience.
And from it is that which (if a person) leaves it, then it is something disliked.
And from it is that which (if a person) leaves it, then it is something permissible.
The Arabic language is part of this religion, and learning it is obligatory and essential. Understanding the Qur’aan and the Sunnah is an obligation, and they cannot be understood except by understanding the Arabic language. Whatever it takes to complete an obligation is in itself an obligation.
It is not permissible for me to waste an hour of my life even when my tongue is not busy with memorizing or debating with others, or my eyes are not busy in reading.
Pen in hand. Book or text on your lap. Material previewed before the lesson. Your notes reviewed with a good student after the lesson. There is no safety net! You must get that knowledge at that sitting, or you will miss it! This approach is many times more effective than attending to record the lecture.
Many young people are deviating from Islam and becoming alienated from all that is related to the Din, and there are many reasons, like their lack of knowledge and ignorance of the reality and merits of Islam.
So wherever he turns he is in great excellence while having these good intentions – even his sleep is a path to Jannah – if he sleeps in order to strengthen himself to seek knowledge, or to study or memorize, then his sleep is regarded as worship.
