Performing an action of the Hereafter seeking with it this world

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

” بشر هذه الامة بالسناء والتمكين في البلاد والنصر والرفعة في الدين، ومن عمل منهم بعمل الاخرة للدنيا، فليس له في الاخرة نصيب “.

“Give this nation the glad tidings of glory, establishment in the land, victory, and religious authority. And whoever of them performs an action of the Hereafter seeking with it this world, he will have no portion of the Hereafter from it.”

[Classification: Reported by Ahmad and his son in the additions to the ‘Musnad’ (5/134), Ibn Hibban in his ‘Sahih’ (4/311 in the ‘Mawarid’ of al-Hakim), and he said: “Its chain is authentic,” and adh-Dhahabi agreed with him, as did al-Mundhiri (1/31).

قلت: وإسناد عبد الله صحيح على شرط البخاري.

“I (al-Albani) say that the chain of ‘Abdullah (the son of Ahmad bin Hanbal) is authentic according to the conditions of al-Bukhari.”

Brothers and sisters, judge yourself and your activities in your daily life and on the social networking sites. Are you one of those who appear to be Islamic in front of others in order to achieve your worldly benefits, like for attaining popularity, for impressing females, for making money etc.

Do you talk Islamic and post status updates thus intending by it that people like and comment on it? Or that you be considered as one of the famous da’ee of Islam?

Whether you give Da’wah or do any other kinds of Ibaadah, if you desire by it anything other than to seek the Face of Allaah (i.e., the pleasure of Allaah) and the Home of the Hereafter, be rest assured that you have strayed into a dangerous lane.

Remember the words of our beloved prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), dear brothers, “whoever of them performs an action of the Hereafter seeking with it this world, he will have no portion of the Hereafter from it.”

Remember, Allaah knows what is in your heart. These pleasures of being known, of being referred to as a da’ee of Islam, etc, will be followed by a greater pain, and will make a person miss out on a greater pleasure – the pleasure of the Hereafter.

We ask Allaah to guide such people and make them sincere.
